Get Flocked!
There’s a new um, er . . . well, it’s kind of like a browser, but it does things WAY differently. Consider IE or Opera or even FF to be the cabin in the woods, tied to the rest of the world by one flimsy phone line, but at least on O and FF you have a multi button phone . . . well, anyway, Flock just put five satellite dishes on your roof, ran FO cable out your road, and hooked you up every which way to Sunday like you’re in the big city and part of a huge social circle. At least that’s the way I’m seeing it. You don’t have bookmarks or favorites, you have a built in del.icio.us hook up, and search is done first through your own history and del.icio.us faves, then through rss and OP’s del.icio.us faves, then through regular search. Oh, and did I mention you can blog through it? Not like go to the admin page of your site and blog, but just do it. Right there. And with cool blog tools like a “shelf” that you can drag stuff onto for storage until you blog, at which time you can grab them off the “shelf, and drop ‘em in your post. There’s also Flickr integration, though I’m hearing that’s still just a bit buggy. And this marvel is built on the same engine as FireFox, the Gecko engine, so it’s got speed and security built in, not to mention that the Firefox extensions work with it. It’s only been out a short time and the blogosphere is buzzing with it . . . so much so that in only DAYS a very credible PARODY has sprung up! Read the Buzz to hear more . . .
