AutoMapIt, A Website Sitemap Creation Tool for SEO
My good pal, Shawn, really came up with something stellar. It’s called AutoMapIt, and I’ve already got it running here on Kickass Web Design.
What it does is deep-spiders your website, creates your sitemaps for you in all applicable formats, and uploads them automatically to your server, so you never have to worry about the dang things again. You let Google and Yahoo know where your maps are once, and when the spiders come through they’ll always snag ‘em. Even better, it cleans out all duplicate links that are often generated by other types of sitemapping programs, especially on dynamically generated sites, so there is only one of each URL on your sitemap, and no potential spam penalties. There are also filters you can set to avoid different directories, and the AutoMapIt spiders do recognize and respect robots.txt and the robots metatag.
You subscribe to the service and your account is set up. After that it’s all automatic.
The tool generates the sitemaps in four formats- a Google sitemap, a Yahoo sitemap, an OPML format sitemap, and an HTML sitemap which, if you can copy/paste the proper html, you can have it looking just like the rest of your site the way I did on the Kickass Web Design Site Map. There’s also an affiliate program, so if you’re a fellow webdev or an SEO guru you’ll probably want to sign up as an affiliate and have a chance of recouping a bit when you recommend this fab sitemap creation tool to your clients as part of the package. Talk about a win-win!
Amazingly enough, AutoMapIt is offering a once-a-month spidering service for free (it’s ad supported) but if you need spidering more often there are affordable enhanced subscriptions that will spider your website weekly, or even daily.
Give this SEO sitemapping tool a test drive, and I think you’ll end up using it just like I did.
