CubeCart, ZenCart and other Templates . . .
I am totally in love with working with templates done with php/css/xhtml and even smarty. Yeah, I know you true and old fashioned html junkies out there just shuddered in horror. I guess my fascination is akin to preferring 3d puzzles over 2d ones . . . no one’s ever called me normal. Or sane, for that matter.
Though I’m still doing a bit of work on the guts of this one, this CubeCart Template for SomeStore.com is up and running and functioning fine. CubeCart is a breeze for me to template since it works well with my xhtml/css tableless approach to design, and I think I succeeded in giving my pal, Shawn, a different feel from the usual boxy shopping cart look, and with some tongue-in-cheek humor that suits his personality. Not to mention his ongoing love affair with the color blue. I would gladly take on more custom CubeCart templating work, this was fun!
I’m currently tackling a ZenCart ecommerce website template, and of course timing couldn’t be worse. I’ll probably get it done right before the new ZenCart version comes out that will allow me to do my xhtml/css magic much more easily. Stay tuned for updates on this, I can’t wait for the new version and will be test driving a template for it as soon as it’s available. I’ll also let you know when the ZenCart template I’m currently slogging away on is done. Such a pain working with core-produced table code. I hate that.
Meanwhile, I’ve also done a custom phpLD template for SuperArchives which is totally tableless and xhtml/css driven. These have become as easy for me as custom WordPress themes, which, up until recently, has been the greater bulk of my design business.
