What to expect with IE7
We’ve all been hacking away at our code to get that damned buggy browser IE to behave. Well, now there’s another potential problem on the horizon- IE7. According to this article at PIE about IE7 it’s not going to be broken, or at least not AS broken as past IE versions. But that leaves an interesting conundrum.
What, exactly, are they fixing?
In other words, will the hacks we’ve been using for IE6 BREAK our older layouts in IE7? The PIE article does offer some good tips for future proofing your xhtml/css by putting your hacks in a separate IE6 and earlier stylesheet and calling it from a conditional comment so it won’t be read by IE7. But meanwhile we’ve all gotta go back through all our old work and . . . ugh! Well, at least there is some consolation in the fact that IE7 still won’t be out for a couple months or so, and Microsnot does often deliver late. Just MAYBE I’ll have all the fixes in by then . . .

Being’s how we’re talking about Microsoft, which hasn’t made a delivery date earlier than 6 months late any time in the last 15 years, I think we’re safe….
