Testing out the Autometa Plugin for WP

Yeah, it’s supposed to automatically generate meta tags and techorati tags for my blog, and since I always end up going back in to put the tech tags in after the fact since I never seem to remember them when I’m posting, I thought this would be cool . . . if it works. Maybe it won’t put in the BEST tags, but at least there will be something there if I forget. And if I don’t forget, I can save as a draft and then tweak ‘em. Cool.

Saved as draft and yes, the field is at the bottom of the wp write form. It even put some stuff in the box, not great, but yes, there’s a few words there . . . okay, tweak those terms a bit, and . . . SAVE!

**UPDATE** I uninstalled this. The tech tags are HIDDEN. Can we say trash your googly goodness??? ACK!

This plugin? I’ve not managed to make it work. Did you manually add columns to your db?

  2. BJ Says:

Nope, no columns to the db. This one was an easy install. BUT I ended up uninstalling it. I don’t like the way it adds the tech tags, it’s death in the search engines. Also, if it’s adding a metatag, why not the more important meta description? Keywords are so . . . nineties.
