Thanks to a relatively inexperienced ebay seller who didn’t know how best to list his Mac Notebook ‘puters, I managed to snag a brandy new IBook yesterday at a damn good price (slightly less than comparable used ones bring) and complete with cd/dvd/rw, airport card, and most other bells and whistles. I’m sure the mac-owning members of CSS-D, who have been helping me browser test and troubleshoot, are going to be ecstatic to learn this. Am I moving to the shiny side permanently? Probably not, I actually do prefer a desktop (I’ve owned a notebook in the past) and I’ve been working on PC my whole computing life, which predates the internet by a fair amount.

It’ll be an interesting learning curve for me. I’ve been using a PC since they had no hard drives and two floppies (and the floppies were NOT misnamed, they were truly floppy.) All the shortcut keys will be different, all the ways to open and close things, move things, copy things, all the things I take for granted are not going to be operable on this, or at least not in the way I’m used to. I’m gonna be a NOOB Mac user instead of an expert PC user.

But I’m also gonna be MOBILE this summer . . . scratch one off the New Year’s Resolutions . . .
