WordPress Support and Yahoo Search

They say a picture is worth a thousand words–

WordPress Search by Yahoo- BROKEN!

And if you think I’d stoop to doctoring the image, go ahead and try this yourself . . .

Now, I’ve mentioned this malfunction of the search facility in WordPress Support and Docs on my blog on a couple other posts about Yahoo hosting. Matt Mullenweig even commented on one of them, and that was over a month ago. The lack of a working search facility has also been brought up numerous times on the WordPress Support Forum itself, by others as well as myself. I think it’s even stickied by one of the mods. This has been broken since right after CHRISTMAS, the same time WP 2.0 was released. Geez, Matt, if you don’t have the coding skills to fix this yourself, use some of the dough you’re making off that awful WordPress Yahoo Hosting and pay someone skilled to fix it, willya?

*snicker* Feel free to link a few of my snider posts about this…. There’s a fair few around on the support forum.

Hahaha.. Most say that the “truth hurts” sometimes, but in this case it’s funny as hell. LOL =)

And let’s not forget, it’s not only the “search” that’s broken. The “add to favorites”, and the “next page” link in profile section are broken also. =(

It’s a shame though, I miss viewing all those posts that I have replied to in past months. And it’s really a shame to not be able to find that “specific” topic you know could help someone in the support forums, because the “next page” link isn’t working.. =(

You do know how to use the google search to find “yourself” don’t you? It’s an effective workaround….

  4. BJ Says:

Yes, I’ve been using it since Christmas. It does work but also returns all the rss links as well, so it’s not all that wonderful either.

Point being that the forum search USED TO WORK before Matt switched to his homegrown version of forum software. He shouldn’t have implemented what amount to an ALPHA piece of software- untested, buggy and missing functionality. Even worse, he’s done nothing to fix it. If enough people start YELLING about it maybe he’ll be forced to address the issue.

  5. vkaryl Says:

We can only hope…. people HAVE been yelling ever since rollout though, and nothing’s been done.

I don’t think he knows HOW to do anything. And of course, it’s NOT likely he’d pay to have it fixed…. especially since whoever he hired would no doubt laugh him out of the race for the silicon valley dollars.

  6. vkaryl Says:

Oh - my comment about finding yourself was for “twisted” (spencerp), not for you. I KNOW you know how to do that sort of thing…. I wasn’t sure about spence….

  7. WordPress Search fixed. Finally. Says:
