Image Manager Plugin for Wordpress
Though WordPress did “enhance” the image handling capabilities in version 2.0.x, the image utility is not the easiest to use. It’s awkward, produces thumbnails instead of fullsize photos despite complaints of this on the forum, and is just plain counter intuitive for end users. So I went on a hunt to find a good image manager to install for my clients, since if I can make image handling easier for them, it makes after-the-fact questions and problems less for me, a win-win for everybody. I finally found the Image Manager plugin for WordPress which is easy to install, easy to use and has enough features so that even a powerblogger can appreciate it. I installed it on two client blogs and both had images up and working with the very first use and with no problems whatsoever.
It works whether you have that somewhat buggy rich text editor on or off, so if you post with the old editor on in 2.0.x it will work fine for you. I like the fact that you have options when you post a photo. You can show the full image on all posts both on the index page and on single pages OR you can show thumbnails on the index page to make for easier loading and then have the full photo in the single page. There are other options too.
Though there are fancier image handlers that’ll produce gallery effects, this plugin gives overall great BASIC functionality as well as a couple nice additions. I’ll be installing this one a lot.
