Buffett’s Money going to Indian Prostitutes?

One has to wonder if The Gates Foundation’s decision to give money to Indian Prostitutes in the form of smart card discounts in exchange for health checkups, was what Warren Buffett had in mind when he made that megagenerous donation recently. Comment, Warren?

    Well… Given how much money Buffet’s given to abortion rights and services (among other women’s and sexual health programs), my guess would be yes, this is exactly what he had in mind - or so close as makes no real difference.

    Since prostitutes are an STD vector, they’re a sensible intervention point from a public health point of view - just like conducting needle exchanges. These aren’t *popular* programs, but dollar-for-dollar, they’re quite effective.
