Two New Site Launches
We’ve launched two new sites recently!
LanaHampton.com
Lana Hampton came to me with a header image and wanted me to build a three column Custom WordPress Theme that would kick some butt, yet suit her very slick, professional image. Small graphics elements were created to round out the navigation section tops and distinguish them without closing anything in, thus retaining the openness of the layout while still visually suggesting a column divider. Gradients were used to gently mirror the effect of the header graphic, and the violet, black, and silver color scheme was carried throughout.
The effect is dramatic, yet understated, and conveys this classy woman’s style nicely. She’s successfully made some modifications of her own using plugins and scripting to add multi-language capability and a few other things. I have a feeling she’s going to do some Kickass business with this site!
ThingsYouShouldDo.com
Two sites could not be any more different! Julie, aka IrishLass, wanted a fun and upbeat look to showcase her “Things You Should Do” travel planning site. A retro 1920’s hedonism feeling did the trick, with some pop moderne elements and eyecatching color. Old Matchbook Art added some visual interest while telling visitors what to expect. The Custom WordPress Templates have some of the blog elements removed to give Julie more flexibility in arranging her site, since she didn’t want it to be too bloglike. A lot of the blog elements were also customized within the template files to more closely fit Julie’s needs and the purpose of the site.
“Things You Should Do” was migrated over from Blogspot into WordPress lock, stock and barrel, which is not the most fun thing to do, but the job was, after much moaning and groaning from both of us about blogspot’s slow as molasses server, accomplished successfully, saving Julie from having to port all those posts over. Thanks go to notions.okuda.ca for the excellent blogspot image importer plugin, which really got a monster workout on Julie’s site!
