No News source could be trusted yesterday . . .
I swear, the April Fool’s jokes are getting WAY out of hand. Every year this time a slew of spoofs hits the net. This year saw a spoof of a recall on the NVidea GEForce card most popular with Gamers, a Cellphone that gives new meaning to the term Reach out and Touch Someone, Mozilla suing Microsoft for violation of a patent on Tabbed Browsing (I love the patent illustrations on this one!), Google’s Gmail Paper for those who don’t like computers, planned obsolescence via dumping of Mhz in Microprocessors, and a roundup of offerings from ThinkGeek including the WiiHelm, the 8-bit Necktie, Surge-Stix Inhalable Caffeine Stix, and the Lonely Guy Dream Vacation Digital Photo Frame.
But NONE of these could top Google’s BEST APRIL FOOL’S SPOOF EVER , the TiSP in-home wireless broadband. Make sure to read ALL the linked pages, I damn near spewed my coffee all over the desk with this one.
One only wonders how they’re gonna top these next year . . . oy.
*** UPDATE!! *** The joke is on ThinkGeek this year, as they’ve stated. So many people loved their 8 bit nectie spoof, that they posted this notice on the item; “Hey! You! Quit emailing us to make this for REAL already
We promise, we’ll make it. In fact we are already working on it. You’ve just forced our hand! Click the ‘email me when available’ link above to get notified! Thanks! I guess the joke is on us this year :p”
