WordPress PhotoBlog Launch and Postcard Site Launch
Desi and Darlene’s photoblog launched on a custom widget enabled WordPress Theme. They’ve gotten off to a good start with it! Darlene had some unusual requests with this theme. It involved having the main image be a part of the title, which can only be done through the use of the Post Image plugin. She also wanted the archive lists to show thumbs and be arranged differently than the average blog, which also involved use of the same plugin.
Grays were chosen by Darlene, both because she likes them and because they set off the brilliant colors of their photos. I created a granite like background to give the grays texture and interest without overwhelming or stealing attention away. It also makes the post headers resemble fine photomatting, to give this a slicker feel.
Thanks go to Vix for fixing a minor problem with the above linked plugin.
Deborah, the owner of the Little Love Tales site, came to me with an idea and a header graphic. I created exactly what she wanted, a custom three column widget enabled wordpress theme for her to use for her postcard site.
The color scheme was taken directly from the header image to tie the visuals of the site together. Since Deborah didn’t have a lot of experience with the web or with wordpress, the ImageManager plugin was used to make her learning curve a bit less steep. It’ll be interesting to see what she does with her kinder, gentler website!
