Golfolicious Blog Launches on Custom WordPress Theme
Kirsten just launched her Golfolicious Blog on a Kickass custom wordpress theme. With this tongue in cheek layout showing Kirsten’s description of how she plays golf, she should have some humorous fun with it!
Sometimes a simple email conversation will give me the direction to take with a blogskin design. While having an email conversation with Kirsten we discovered a shared love of the wacky writings of PG Wodehouse, inventor of Jeeves, the butler. I had a book of PG Wodehouse’s short stories about golf, dived in, and used the ideas I got about duffers PG Wodehouse style to create Kirsten’s header graphic. Illustrations from the 1920’s were combined to create the humorous header cartoon. Kirsten loves simple and clean layouts so the graphics elements were kept simple and the colors were kept clean and outdoorsy, with sky blue as the background and a muted green as of grass on an early spring morning when the dew haze hasn’t burnt off yet. Post headlines were set off with a border and bullet that calls to mind a golf club and ball, and at the end of each post is the green, though I’m sure she’ll be posting more than 18 times (at least 19, if those stories were spot on!)
This one was enormous fun to do! I hope she has as much fun filling it up as I had designing it.
Do you have a hobby you’d like to turn into a great blog? Let’s talk!
