Trucking Blog launched on a Custom WordPress Web Design
When Wayne told me he needed me to wire up his trucking blog it immediately brought a header image to mind. That’s the one I created for TruckingBlog.net. Wayne sent me a truck image, I got out the dslr camera and shot a few photos of the USB wire and plug, and then I did some graphics magic marrying them together.
This Custom WordPress Web Design is a simple, sleek widget enabled blogskin, which allows Wayne the ability to switch out ad blocks, and rearrange stuff to find the optimal placement for things. The header text was purposely kept as coded text so that the translator plugin will work with the blog title, and so that Wayne can submit the different translated versions to those local search engines to take advantage of the additional traffic generated. It appears to be working since Wayne has already had some comments in other languages.
Wayne uses blockquotes extensively so styling them was paramount. I styled the blockquotes simply but so that they would easily be spotted as such. Left or right floated images in the blogposts won’t be affected by the blockquotes; the blockquote text wraps around the images in the same way regular text does, which was important to Wayne.
It’ll be interesting to see how this blog does. Wayne is a smart guy and a good writer, and has good ideas about how to make it grow.
** UPDATE ** Wayne, the client, got a paid blogging gig and took down this blog, so it’s no longer live, and I ditched the links to it. I’m happy for him that he’s actually getting paid to do what he loves!
