Custom WordPress Theme Design is never boring

I’ve been doing Custom WordPress Theme Design for awhile now, to the point where I’ve completed somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 sites. There are also a lot of sites using Kickass Free WordPress Themes.

You’d think that having done so much WordPress web design that I’d be tired of it, and would have “seen it all” but that’s far from the case. Wordpress is, without a doubt, one of the most versatile platforms for smaller scale web development in existence. Its search engine friendliness and extensability make it the perfect choice for small to medium sized businesses, non-profit organizations, clubs and social groups, authors and publishers, artists and photographers, various service providers (even WordPress Web Designers!) and personal bloggers too. It’s also been deployed as the corporate blogging tool for the New York Times and other high profile companies.

With all the WordPress plugins that exist out there, there’s an almost infinite number of combinations you can use to achieve the functionality you need for your WP website. And every time I look at the WP plugin list I find ten more I didn’t know about that I can think of hundreds of uses for! Mix and match to get the site performance you need.

Creating WordPress Themes is a joy for me. I know the ins and outs of the theme system and what the different templates can and will do, and the way the template hierarchy works, and I’ve come up with a lot of different customizations that give each website its own unique flavor. Designing with CSS is not for the faint of heart, since achieving cross browser compatibility can be a daunting challenge for those who don’t know what they’re doing. I know which layouts work the best with WP, and how to tweak them so they’ll hold up under the beating my clients often subject them to.

So, bottom line is that I hope doing more custom designing for WordPress continues to keep me busy. Do you have an idea for a website and don’t quite know how to put it together? Do you think that WP will work for you? Let’s talk. We’ll come up with something great together.
