Eudora Penelope Thunderbird is born.
Actually I can think of worse names for a child, but this kid is a new email client. Actually, there appears to be two, sorta. There’s the New Eudora version 8.0.0b1 (beta) for Windows and Mac, which includes the Penelope Extension, and then there’s the Penelope Extension for Thunderbird, which extends Tbird in Eudora-like ways.
Apparently the new Eudora codebase is based on Thunderbird since a lot of the old codebase was proprietary closed source code from other sources. They had to rewrite a lot of stuff to get up and running with this under the new Open Source licensing.
I may give it a test run, though it’ll have to be pretty slick to tear me away from The Bat. The only thing I preferred with Tbird (which I used to use before conversion to The Bat) was the ability to choose to open images in html email.
