I wish Standards Compliant and SECURE browsers would make some more gains!
One of the mailing lists I’m on just linked to the browser stats at the W3 school site. I just plain don’t understand why so many people still use that insecure and broken piece of manure called Internet Explorer, in whatever flavor it comes in. IE7 is very slightly less broken than IE6.
Between clients having their sites hacked because their machines were zombied by trojans or keyloggers (yes, they were IE users at the time) and all the hacks I have to add to get any site to work in these broken browsers, it just boggles my mind why anyone would want to use any version of it.
But approximately 57% still do use IE, despite there being MUCH better alternatives that will even import their bookmarks (oops, excuse me! FAVORITES in IE lingo, unlike every other browser out there.) At least that’s down from approximately 62% this time last year.
One can only hope that with Vista being so broken and bloated that the good browsers will eventually see more widespread adoption as people realize that Microsoft just isn’t getting it right.
