Email and Hosting Woes with HostingZoom

HostingZoom sucks. My MAIN business email address has now been down for almost 24 hours. I’m shopping hosts right now to move this site off hostingzoom.com hosting, so there may be some disruptions and burps over the next 24 hours or so, depending on when I do the migration.

HostingZoom supposedly “fixed” it last night. Yeah. Right. One email came through. That was it. And I routinely get over 100 emails a day, so we know how well it was fixed! I know of at least half dozen emails that have gone missing, and only the Big Kahuna knows how many have been permanently lost.

When this problem first appeared I checked the community forum. If I had checked it before I had this problem I would have moved earlier, since there is a LOT of grumbling going on, and I expect they’ll turn off or edit out many of them, if they follow the path of other hosts that have gone south quickly.

Though the contact form/wordpress is currently set to mail me at my gmail account, I haven’t yet gotten the test email I sent through it, so it’s possible sendmail is also borked. You all can email me directly at vermilionx at gmail dot com for now.

And you can betcha I’m going to make some noise about this . . .

** UPDATE ** It’s fixed as of last night, but I will probably still be migrating, I’m just not sure when. It took them close to two days to get this fixed. NOT GOOD. And now I just plain don’t trust their sysadmin to handle things well. Crappy as they were MediaTemple at least offered a three month refund. No consideration given by hostingzoom at all, though there’s a very good chance I lost business. ***
