HTML 5
A List Apart has a great article on what’s coming in HTML 5, which throws out a lot of the current tag syntax and gives us more semantic structural markup via the DOM. It will also allow a more streamlined markup with a lot of cruft cut out and simplified. There will be a lot more support for embedding audio and video and including the controls for same.
The spec is currently being hammered out and is a work in progress, so any examples in the article linked above may not be valid by the time the W3 spec is released into general use. This is, however, a great taste of things to come.
Enjoy!
